How to clean the Air Conditioning Vents in your home

Summer vacation is over and now you’re thinking about tackling one of the projects that never seems to get done, cleaning your air vents in your home. You know that dust and all kinds of air contaminants can collect in there. You can ignore it no longer!

You are going to be disturbing a lot of dust and air pollutants, so send your family away for a bit, especially if they have allergies. Consider wearing a mask to protect yourself from breathing in unwanted air particles

When you are ready to get started, turn off the power to your air conditioning system.

Remove the covers to the ducts usually by unscrewing them from the walls and/or ceilings. You’ll want to give all those covers a good cleaning, so either tackle them now or put them aside for later.

Now that you can access inside the ducts, Gently vacuum them with your hose as much as possible. If you want to do a more thorough job, contact us about a professional duct cleaning service.  We are now offering that service.

Once you’ve done all that you can do, give the duct covers a cleaning if you haven’t already, and reattach them. Vacuum up any unwanted debris that made its way from the ducts into your clean home.

This is a good time to change the air filter.

Now don’t forget to turn the power back on to your air conditioning system, and letting the family know it is safe to return.
